The ultimate T-handle kit

Feedback Sports Modular T-Handle Set Bike Toolset Review

When it comes to working with hex and Torx bolts there are a variety of options from folding multi-tools, to L-wrenches and even ratchets. Arguably, the ultimate tool is a modular T-handle which uses a multi-piece design and sliding lateral bars for versatility. Feedback Sports new Modular T-Handle Kit is the brand’s latest T-Handle kit that offers a complete Hex and Torx set with a compact design. It’s a complete set of 7 Hex wrenches that cover 2-10mm and 3 Torx for T10 / T25 and T30. The quality does not come cheap though, as the retail price for the set is $200 which includes a compact fabric tool roll. Each wrench also has a three position lateral bar which allows you to use the wrenches in a variety of configurations.

UNBOXING

The Feedback Sports Modular T-Handle Kit comes in a compact cardboard box with white/black branding and specs printed directly on it. Inside the box you’ll find:

Note, you may find the wrenches and bars have likely slid out of the carrying bag during shipping as we did. The slots in the bag are larger than most of the smaller sizes which allows them to slide out of their slot.

FIT & FINISH

The Feedback Sports Modular T-Handle Kit is a complete Hex and Torx wrench set that can cover nearly all common bike bolts and even has tool roll to organize everything. There are eight Hex sizes: 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 mm (note, the 8/10mm is a combination lateral bar) which covers everything from rotors to pedals. An additional three Torx sizes of T10, T25 and T30 cover common Torx applications. To make it easier to visually differentiate the wrenches, the Hex wrenches have a red anodization while the Torx are black. Each wrench consists of two pieces, the main body and a lateral bar that slides into the main body. The main body has been carefully CNC’d from a single piece of Cr-V steel with a knurled aluminum spinner sleeve attached to it. That allows you to hold the body straight as you tighten or loosen a bolt.

At the top of the main body there is a Hex cutout that allows you slide the lateral bars through it. If you look closely, you can see there is a small bearing at the center which compresses down and helps hold the lateral bar in place. The lateral bars have a sliding design with three positions that allow you to use the wrench in T or L configuration by sliding the bar until you reach the divots. For both the main body and lateral bars, the size is printed on top of it while the main body has an F at the top for branding.

Feedback Sports includes a fabric rollup case that helps keep everything organized but doesn’t keep the pieces in place.

What makes modular T-handles so much more versatile than standard L-wrenches or folding multi-tools is how many configurations are possible. The modular design of these means you can combine the lateral bar and main piece in different ways to access hard-to-reach bolts or optimize leverage. The main body can be used alone to quickly drive a loose bolt in or remove it quickly. Adding the lateral bar gives you more leverage to tighten or loosen bolts with an ergonomic design. Sliding the lateral bar to an L configuration further improves leverage and makes it easier to work in tight locations. You can even slide the handle to any position between the three divots to accommodate different space constraints.

To help keep everything organized, Feedback Sports includes premium tool roll. It’s constructed from a combination of TPU and rip stop nylon. There is a two row offset pocket design that places the main wrenches behind the lateral bars. The pockets themselves are not perfectly sized for the tools which means the smaller bits can easily slide around. Unfortunately, that means the tools can fall out if you travel with the kit so you need to be careful to keep the kit upright to avoid that. It’s a very compact design as you can roll everything together to close it up. There are two external straps with hooks to further cinch everything together.

The Hex bits have red anodized knurled handles while the Torx are black.

On the outside of the case you have a glossy TPU material and the Feedback Sports logo in white to give it a premium appearance. What’s clever about the tool roll is that it can actually be combined with the Feedback Sports Team Edition case using the Velcro strip on the back of the case. There are also two reinforced circular cutouts that allow you to hang the tool kit off a wall or on a peg board for easy access.

USABILITY

If you walk into any bike shop, you’ll almost always see a T-handle set arranged on a wall or tool box. The convenience of the individual wrenches means you don’t have to fumble around with bits or opening multi-tools to make an adjustment. Feedback Sports Modular T-Handle set looks and feels professional grade with the anodization and precise CNC body. It’s hard to describe but you feel like a mechanic even if you are just adjusting a water bottle cage. The wide range of sizes and multi-piece design worked well to tighten or loosen hard to reach bolts as you can easily adjust the lateral bar position. Compared to more compact tools like Feedback Sports Reflex, the long handles of the Modular T-Handle set provide significantly more leverage.

With the two-piece T-handle design you can use it in a T or L configuration or use the individual pieces separately.

The color coded handle makes it easy to quickly differentiate between Hex and Torx, but you have to look more closely to see the labels for smaller sizes. Leaving the tool in the fabric case helps make it easier to find the right tool. You can even mix-and-match some of the handles and lateral bars as the diameters are the same. That means you can use a 3mm hex on a 4mm handle or even put the Torx lateral bar on the hex handle. Given the premium price of the tool, it’s certainly not for everyone but it feels like a tool that can outlast standard multi-tools. The main let down we had was the fabric rollup case which isn’t labeled and too loose for the smaller bits. That means you have to really roll it up tight and be careful traveling with it as the smaller pieces can slide around.

THE VERDICT

Overall, we found the Feedback Sports Modular T-Handle set to be a high quality and versatile T-handle set. Feedback Sports has combined a CNC body with premium details such as anodization and knurling to optimize performance and feel. With 10 wrenches, the T-handle set covers nearly any common bike task with the long handles providing additional leverage and accessibility. We were impressed with the versatility and build quality. As far as the pricing, the Feedback Sports Modular T-Handle set isn’t cheap but it is on par with other cycling brands like Pedros and Park Tool. There are certainly cheaper alternatives but the T-handle set is a buy-it-for-life type tool for recreational cyclists or shop owners looking for the best.
