Kokopelli Platte Inflatable Packraft Kayak Review - Side Profile
  • Magicshine Monteer 1400

In the past, when you were shopping for a bicycle headlight you had to choose between a high powered light with external battery pack or a more expensive lower output all-in-one. With the Magicshine Monteer 1400, you have the opportunity to buy an all-in-one LED light with 1400 lumens. Designed with an all aluminium body and two Cree XM-L2 LEDs the Monteer 1400 is a compelling package with a premium feel at only $99.99.

  • Magicshine Eagle F3

In this review, we’ll be looking at the Magicshine Eagle F3 3000 Lumen bicycle LED headlight. I’ve been using the Eagle F3 for close to a year now for early morning rides and commuting on dark trails. Consistent with the Magicshine brand, the light offers an impressive 3000 lumens (listed as actual output instead of theoretical like some of the other products) for a relatively cheap $179.99 retail price. The Eagle F3 couples 4x Cree LEDs in the head unit with the largest battery pack currently available (MJ-6090, 8x Lithium ion batteries).

  • Crater Lake Century

This year, the Crater Lake Century was held on August 17, 2019 in Fort Klamath in Oregon. The ride benefits the Klamath County food bank, the Klamath Trails Alliance and of course the Klamath County Museums. Since we’d never been to Crater Lake (mostly because it’s an 8hr+ drive from home with no major airports close by), S found this ride so we could have an excuse to go. He signed up for the Century ride (100miles), and I for the Metric Century (62 miles a.k.a 100kilometers). One of our friends from the Bay Area, RJ, a first-time Century rider,…

  • Lego Ford Mustang

As a muscle car fan and adult-sized child, when I realized LEGO had released a new Creator Expert Ford Mustang model I was excited to get my hands on it.  The Creator Expert product line are highly detailed, expensive, and large-scale adult orientated models. Having already built a few of the previous models like the Ferrari F40, Mini Cooper and 007 Aston Martin I was well prepared for what to expect. In this article we’ll go over the build, model details and give it a rating. Category LEGO Rating 9.5/10 Retail Price $149.99 Likes + Intricate details + Fun to assemble…

  • Animas Pump Return Program

For those of you who signed up for the Animas Pump Return and still haven’t received their Visa Prepaid card, here’s a quick update as to how long the process took. Category Medical Device, Type 1 Diabetes I signed up for the Animas Pump Return program on June 25, 2019 (after I got my Tandem pump). For those of you who are unaware of this program, Animas offered to give out a one time $750 prepaid card in exchange for an in-warranty Animas insulin pump for those who signed up on or before July 31, 2019. Animas will send you…

  • Tandem Diabetes Care (or Don’t Care?)

I don’t usually review Diabetes devices but having just been thru a pump switch, I thought I’d share my experience switching from an Animas to a Tandem Insulin Pump. Read on to see why I strongly question their “#1 Rated Customer Support” claim on the Tandem Diabetes website (highlighted in the cover image of this post). Overall I’d give the customer service a 1/10 mainly due to the lack thereof service from the manufacturer and the cumbersome order process. Category Medical Device, Type 1 Diabetes Rating 1/10 As an Animas Ping Pump user since 2015 (Omnipod and Medtronic user prior…

  • Glenallen

This was another long day of driving (~5+ hrs with stopping for pictures along the way) from Fairbanks to Glennallen so we packed our bags as well as lunch as there weren’t many towns along the way to stop by. Within an hour and a half, we were at Delta Junction, where you’d turn off to go towards Glennallen (on continue on if you want to go into Canada). The Eielson Air Force Base is between Fairbanks and Delta Junction so we we saw plenty of combat planes and vehicles along the way. At Delta Junction, we stopped by the…

  • Fairbanks

A few bunnies came out of the wooded area by the parking lot of our lodge in Healy to say goodbye as we were getting ready to leave. The drive to Fairbanks was relatively short with it being under 2hrs compared to all the driving we S and J did in Alaska. We got into Fairbanks around 11:30AM, just in time for lunch. We ate at the Great Harvest Bread Co, hands down one of the best bakeries I’ve even been to. And the best part is they give out full-size samples of their bread, cake of the day! We…

  • Denali

Drive to Healy After a relaxed morning, eating breakfast while watching the mountains from our living room in Girdwood, we managed to pack up and get out by 10:30AM. First stop was Beluga point on the Old Seward Hwy. We didn’t see any Belugas or other Whales for that matter but it was a gorgeous view out to the bay. Next stop was Costco in Anchorage to fill up on gas and pick up some food for the road. We briefly stopped at Kaladi brothers in Wasilla (Best tea and coffee!) and started driving up to Denali. The drive to…
