Drive to Healy After a relaxed morning, eating breakfast while watching the mountains from our living room in Girdwood, we managed to pack up and get out by 10:30AM. First stop was Beluga point on the Old Seward Hwy. We didn’t see any Belugas or other Whales for that matter but it was a gorgeous view out to the bay. Next stop was Costco in Anchorage to fill up on gas and pick up some food for the road. We briefly stopped at Kaladi brothers in Wasilla (Best tea and coffee!) and started driving up to Denali. The drive to…

We spent a total of 4D, 5N in Anchorage/Girdwood – the first two days on our way in and the last three at the end of our trip. First Leg (Girdwood) We originally had an Airbnb just 10 min outside Anchorage airport and so had an evening flight out which was originally going to arrive in Anchorage around 10:30PM which would give us plenty of time to drive to our vacation rental and get some rest before embarking on our adventure. A week before our trip, I got a text from Airbnb that our host had cancelled our reservation. This…

These past couple of months have been crazy busy between travel, re-doing my business website as well as moving and re-designing our blog from WordPress.com to WordPress.org, training for our Crater Lake Century bike ride among other things. I’m finally trying to get my bearings down and write again. One of our closest friends had been to all 49 states and waiting for us to plan a trip to Alaska so he could cross the finish line so to speak (there is a friendly competition between him and his sister so as to who gets to all 50 first). So…

We’re going to switch it up a bit and start writing of our most recent trips and go backwards as S said realized if I were to stick to my original plan of writing in chronological order, it might take a couple of years (and even then, might not still catch up). We went to Maui for our 3rd anniversary (gosh, has it only been that long?). Our 7 AM non-stop flight got us into the island just before 11 AM giving us the whole day to explore. Things to Do: Water activities, Hiking, Whale Watching, Cycling. Day 1 First…

A few days ago, the song Istanbul (Not Constantinople), was stuck in my head which probably was my subconscious telling me to get a move on and start writing again. We were in Istanbul for a little over 48 hrs, which was plenty to get around and take in the sights, smells, and inhale plenty of lokums (aka Turkish delight).

We arrived in Milan at noon and it was still really cold and foggy. We were staying at the Marconi hotel, which is very close to Milano Centrale. We dropped off our bags and made our way to Pavè to feed our bellies.

Continuing on with our journey in Italy, our next post is about the quaint little villages around Lake Como. I guess the village/city of Como is by far more popular due to some famous Hollywood Celebs who call it their home – which probably means it’s more touristy and crowded. We decided to take a break from the crowds and celebs and head onto the less popular but gorgeous villages of Varenna and Bellagio.

Next up is Venice in our Italy series. We just got back from France and Belgium and I’m still recovering from inflamed feet as I’m writing this.

We continue on to Rome from Florence in our Italy series. Btw, as I’m writing this, I realize how fresh the memories from this trip are although its been 3 years since we were there. It just seems like yesterday!
