COOSPO’s new AP-X1 inflator is an updated and upgraded bike inflator that builds on COOSPO’s AP-B1 pump design. The X1 has a more traditional form factor and simplified user interface that addresses some of the shortcomings of the AP-B1 pump. Despite the upgrades, the X1 is still competitively priced at $87.89 and has a 120 PSI limit. The pump has a traditional rectangular design with a ventilated plastic body that eliminates the need for a silicone case. A modern USB-C charging port allows you to charge the 500 mAH battery in only forty minutes. COOSPO has also added a transparent front panel that lets you see the motor spin as you use it and include a Presta, Schrader and ball needle adapter.
The COOSPO X1 is a compact and lightweight electric tire inflator that lets you inflate multiple tires on one charge.

UNBOXING
The COOSPO X1 comes in a compact cardboard box with white and orange colors that match the COOSPO logo. Branding and specs are printed directly on the box along with a glossy graphic of the pump on the front. Inside the box you’ll find:
- X1 pump
- Presta adapter
- Schrader extension hose
- Ball needle adapter
- USB-C charging cable
- User manual
With the ventilated plastic body of the COOSPO X1 there is no need for a silicone case which is why COOSPO doesn’t include one.
FIT & FINISH
Visually, the COOSPO X1 has a traditional rectangular profile with a plastic body and smooth edges. As far as dimensions, the X1 is approximately 2.8 x 2 x 1.2 inches or 72 x 53 x 30mm which makes it easy to bring on a ride or carry in a saddle bag. One of the unique visual features of the X1 is the transparent front panel which lets you see the top of the motor. With the pump on you can see the motor spin as you inflate which helps give the X1 a unique look. We would have said this is the first time we’ve seen this design, but the recently released Magicshine Airro also has a similar transparent window. Although the transparent window feels a bit like a gimmick, it helps visually differentiate the pump and it is fun to watch while you pump.

The pump otherwise has a smooth plastic body with rounded corners and a raised COOSPO lettering on the side. As far as controls, the display screen and user interface buttons are placed on the backside of the pump with a nicely sized LED screen. Perforations on the top and front of the body help with air flow and help the motor stay cool. COOSPO is so confident in the heat dissipation design that the X1 doesn’t come with a silicone case like most other pumps which is a nice upgrade. There is also an open USB-C port on the bottom that lets you recharge the 500mAh internal battery.

As far as nozzles, the X1 is compatible with Schrader, Presta and inflatable balls using the included adapters. The pump uses a threaded slot on the front face of the pump which can be directly used with the Presta valves or with the Presta, Schrader or ball adapter. COOSPO has simplified the number of adapters by only including three adapters. An extension hose with Schrader end, a ball needle adapter and a Presta adapter. To use the pump with a Presta valve you either attach the pump directly to the valve or combine the extension hose with the Presta adapter. For Schrader valves you have to use the extension hose as there is no separate short Schrader adapter. It’s an unusual setup as most brands include separate adapters and it means you have to bring the extension hose if you want to use it with Schrader valves. The nozzle design is also a bit bulky as the adapters thread on to a protrusion from the body rather than being flush.
USER INTERFACE
To operate the pump you have a well sized LED screen with three physical buttons arranged in a column below it. There is a plus, power and a minus button which makes it easy to power the pump on and adjust the pressure. You hold the power button to turn it on or off, and do a short press to start or stop inflating while the pump is on. Surprisingly, the COOSPO X1 does not have an option to change the unit display so it’s only shown in PSI. We’re happy to see COOSPO simplified the user interface of the X1 compared to the AP-B1 which had a confusing flashlight and secondary actions when you would double press the plus/minus buttons. With the X1 you just press or hold the plus/minus buttons to change the target pressure. On the display you also see a four bar battery indicator, the target pressure and the PSI unit label below it.

IMPRESSIONS
Having only recently reviewed the COOSPO AP-B1 pump, we were a bit surprised when COOSPO released the X1 pump. While the X1 is not a replacement for the B1, COOSPO will continue to sell both side-by-side, it solves many of the issues we found with it. The X1’s rectangular design is more traditional and is more compact and easier to store. We’re also happy to see COOSPO drop the flashlight feature as the X1 has a simplified user interface that lets you double press the plus/minus buttons to quickly adjust the target pressure without activating secondary features. The pump is also has the screen placed on the rear which is easier to see while you are inflating compared to the side screen.
What we don’t like about the pump is the nozzle design as it requires the extension hose for Schrader valves instead of including a small Schrader adapter. Other pumps like the Trek Air Rush and Topeak E-Booster do a better job integrating the nozzles with flush designs or simple switches. Otherwise, the pump inflates quickly and has enough battery life for multiple uses. Even though the motor sounds like it is struggling, it’s one of the fastest pumps we’ve tested as it inflated our 700×28 tire from 0-65 PSI in just under 50 seconds consistently. The 500mAh battery is also well sized and gave us almost 4 inflations (e.g. it died at 62 psi on the fourth inflation) for the same tire before running out of battery.
THE VERDICT
Overall, we found the COOSPO X1 to be a more competitive and easier to use pump than COOSPO’s previous pump. The more traditional shape and smaller size makes it more portable, while the simplified features improve usability. It’s also a competitive pump in terms of speed with fast inflation times, a well-sized battery that lets you do multiple inflations and great ventilation that keeps the body cool without a silicone case. The only downsides are the odd choices with the adapters that require the extension hose for Schrader valves and a PSI only unit display. However, with COOSPO products usually on sale, and the $54 sale price for the pump at the time of the review, it’s safe to say the X1 should undercut most of the major competition on the market while matching performance.
