Retail price for the X9 Ultra is $199.97 and includes multiple nozzle attachments and a 46 inch inflation hose that is stored directly on the pump. UNBOXING

The Fanttik X9 Ultra comes in a large box black and yellow graphics that match the Fanttik logo. Inside the box you’ll find:

  • X9 Ultra inflator
  • Instruction manual
  • USB-C to USB-C charging cable

The X9 Ultra includes a ball needle and Presta adapters pre-installed in a small storage under the pump so you do not need to keep track of any additional accessories with the Schrader adapter pre-installed.

FIT & FINISH

Visually, the Fanttik X9 Ultra looks more like a portable battery than a traditional inflator. It has a big rectangular profile with a black and gray body and a handle molded into the side. In terms of dimensions, it is 256 x 181 x 157 mm or 10 x 7.1 x 6.2 inches and a fairly hefty 9.2 lb / 4.2 kg weight due to the high capacity internal batteries. Like with many of Fanttik’s products, the marketing copy for the X9 Ultra has some fun phrases like “fast like a beast”. While that doesn’t make a lot of sense, the X9 Ultra has a 40L / min inflation rate which makes it significantly faster than most corded or road-side repair style inflators. The top of the X9 Ultra has the large display screen and controls while the sides have Fanttik branding and perforations for ventilation.

The pump has a 46″ inflator hose that wraps with multiple valve attachments included and stored beneath the pump.

On the rear of the X9 Ultra you have three USB ports, two of them are output only: a USB-A and a USB-C. The third port is a USB-C that supports dual directions for charging the battery or powering other devices. According to the user manual, the third port supports up to 60W (3A / 20V) which should enable fast charging on most devices. On the bottom of the pump there is a round groove that stores the inflation hose as well as a small storage slot that holds the nozzle accessories and ensures you don’t lose them.

There are two USB-C and one USB-A ports on the side for charging other devices and to charge inflator.

USER INTERFACE

The Fanttik X9 Ultra has a simple user interface with a large digital display and five radial buttons arranged in a circle next to it. It is an oversized sized screen that displays current mode, battery level, target pressure and current pressure at the same time. Doing a long hold on the right side button for 2 seconds switches the units between PSI / KPA and BAR. Pressing the up and down buttons adjusts the target pressure for whichever mode you are in, with the last inflation pressure being automatically saved to that mode’s setting. The M1-M4 are meant to be presets you can re-use between cars, bikes or motorcycles while the full manual mode is best for ad hoc inflations.

To control the light there is a dedicated button on the left which only works when the X9 Ultra is turned on. The light supports a soft camping mode as well as spot and SOS modes by simply pressing the button to cycle through the options. With devices plugged you can also see the current battery draw which is helpful to ensure you don’t drain the battery faster than expected as well as the charging speed and time remaining to full charge the battery. The X9 Ultra has 25000 mAh capacity or 92.5 Wh, which means it can take a few hours to full charge from empty which is why we’d recommend keeping an eye on the four bar battery status in the corner.

To use the X9 Ultra as an inflator, there is an air nose nozzle that exits out the front side with a built-in storage hoop to store any extra length. The hose is purposely very long at almost 46 inches which lets you inflate even large offroading tires that have harder to reach valves. Fanttik even includes multiple attachments with the inflator to handle balls and Presta valves for road bicycles which lets you use the X9 Ultra on just about anything. Once you attach the hose to a nozzle the bottom row displays the real-time air pressure. Pressing the power button starts inflating until the tire reaches the target pressure. Fanttik has incorporated some built-in safety features to auto-turn off once the pressure has been reached or a safety timeout has been reached.

IMPRESSIONS

Given the large size of the Fanttik X9 Ultra, it’s better suited for roadside or garage use. The large battery size and simple user interface make it perfect for our multi-car garage where you can set presets for each car and keep the tires inflated. We were impressed with how fast the X9 Ultra inflated tires and the simple to use and long hose that lets you easily get into tight spots without having the X9 Ultra right up against the car. The multi-function light and powerbank features provide additional versatility which means the X9 Ultra won’t be collecting dust in the garage. The simple input/output power display lets you charge device up bicycle accessories with USB-A or USB-C which is convenient.

Fanttik has also added two LEDs to the side which can be illuminated in a soft glow, bright spot mode and an SOS option.

While there are some minor improvements such as having the output ports light up when they are active or being able to put the display screen to sleep while charging that would improve usability, the X9 Ultra is easy to use and convenient. We even found the flashlight feature to be helpful as a way to light up a dark garage or to help find things. The warm illumination mode of the camp mode is even helpful for early morning bike prep or outside for car repairs. As far as the sound of the inflation, the motor is still fairly loud but not nearly as high pitched as smaller bicycle inflators like the X10 Ace. Compared to smaller electric tire inflators like the CYCPLUS A8 or the X10 Mini pumps, it’s fast and efficient for high volume tires found on vehicles.

THE VERDICT

Overall, we found the Fanttik X9 Ultra to be a powerful and convenient air inflator. Fanttik has incorporated a high capacity battery and convenient features like mode memory, flashlight and powerbank functionality to make the X9 Ultra useful around the house and on the road. We found the long inflation hose and larger motor to be convenient to quickly top up tires and access hard to reach valves. The additional features also ensure the X9 Ultra doesn’t collect dust in the garage as you can use it for additional illumination or charging devices. The large and bright display also give it a premium feel that matches other Fanttik products. As far as negatives, the retail price is high so we’d recommend waiting for a sale and we also would have liked to see the USB ports light up when being used. That said, the Fanttik X9 Ultra is a great all-in-one tire inflator and powerbank for the road or home use.
