UNBOXING
The Feedback Sports Expedition scale comes in a simple cardboard holder with a transparent front that lets you see the scale and the contents. Inside the box you’ll find:
- Expedition scale

- Instruction manual
Once you pop the batteries into the rear compartment the scale is ready to use.
FIT & FINISH
The Feedback Sports Expedition Digital Scale is a compact weighing scale that has a versatile hanging design that’s highly portable and easy to use. It’s fairly small with an almost square 3.5” x 4.5” profile and a shock resistant ribbed external housing. The rugged design is well suited for traveling or storing as you don’t have to worry about damaging the scale. Unlike most of Feedback Sports products, the scale has a green housing color. Feedback Sports does sell a red scale as well with the Alpine Digital Scale, but that one is designed to be clamped onto bike stands and has a lower weight limit. The top of the scale has a nylon handle that can be held by hand, hook or even a tree branch.

On the bottom of the scale you have a rubberized hook that can loop around whatever item you are weighing without scratching it. This scale is powered by four AAA batteries which should allow the scale to be used for thousands of uses before replacements are needed. One of the key selling points of the scale is the claimed 1% accuracy which allows you to take precise measurements. The scale’s hook design makes it well suited for weighing larger items like bikes or suitcases that can not be easily placed on a home floor scale.

USER INTERFACE
Operating the scale is straightforward with the three large labeled buttons directly below the screen. The on/off button has to be held for 5 seconds to power the scale on or off while the zero button tares the scale back to zero. There is also a mode button which lets you change the display units between: pounds + decimal, pounds + ounces, grams and kilograms. The screen has a high contrast LCD screen with large black text on a gray background. However, there is no backlight on the display which makes the scale difficult to use in low light conditions.
IMPRESSIONS
As product reviewers we typically include the weight of the item we are reviewing. For smaller items like lights or computers that’s easy to do with a small postal scale. However, for bikes or wheelsets it can be tricky or impossible to get them to balance on a standard floor scale. That’s where the Feedback Sports Expedition scale really shines as the rubber hook can be to weight anything you can wrap it around. We found it easy to weigh wheels, entire bikes, bags or other odd shaped or sized items. The simple three button display is intuitive to use with dedicated power, tare and unit buttons so there is no need to read instruction manuals. Although the display is large and legible, we do wish there was a backlight as the display is hard to read in low light conditions.

THE VERDICT
Overall, we found the Feedback Sports Expedition scale to be an accurate and easy to use scale. With its hanging design and use of a nylon holding strap and rubber hook, the Expedition can be used to weigh just about anything. With its ribbed body that protects the display, it’s also a very durable scale that you don’t have to worry about damaging. We found it to be easy to use and appreciated the high 50kg / 110lb limit and strap design. The scale can be used by hand or hung off a bike stand thanks to the versatile design. Our only complaint would be that the display lacks a backlight for use in lower light conditions. That said, if you’re looking for an accurate and durable scale for heavier items then the Feedback Sports Expedition is an excellent choice.
