GOREWEAR’s Concurve lineup of running apparel has been a popular option for runners looking for high performance running gear for any climate. For this review, we’ll be looking at a running kit that includes the new Concurve shorts as well as their award-winning Concurve GORE-TEX Jacket. The shorts are part of a set of seven new short options in the Concurve lineup and retails for $60. It’s the 5” Brief model with integrated briefs and an elastic waistband. The Concurve GORE-TEX jacket retails for $250 and has won ISPO awards for the PFAS-Free GORE-TEX material. It’s a fully waterproof jacket with a streamlined fit that’s designed to move with runners while protecting from the elements. Together, the two CONCURVE pieces are optimized for comfort and protection for runners.

CONCURVE 5” BRIEF SHORTS
For 2025, GOREWEAR has added seven new Concurve short options in both men’s and women’s specific styles. There are four men’s options with the 5” shorts, 5” 2 in 1, 5” brief and a 7” short option. In this review we have the 5” brief shorts which include a built-in brief and a 5” length. GOREWEAR offers these shorts in four different colors from bright green and red as well as black and gray. The color here is the lab graphite which is a gray color that should pair well with nearly any outfit. The shorts are marketed as lightweight running shorts with a highly breathable fabric that’s meant to act as a second skin. The exterior of the shorts have a minimal design with GOREWEAR’s kinetic garment design that optimizes range of motion. That results in minimal seams and a light weight interlock knit fabric that is optimized for comfort on any length of run.
The shorts have reflective GOREWEAR logos on the sides and a thin elastic waistband on top. One of the cool features of the shorts are the three internal pockets on the rear that allow you to carry keys or a phone without them bouncing around. GOREWEAR has used a gusseted pocket design that helps hold everything in place. Otherwise, the waistband has an elastic construction that accommodates different waist sizes and an elastic loop for adjustment. As the product name implies, the shorts also have an integrated brief for support and comfort. The material is sewn into the interior of the shorts with an elastic breathable material.
CONCURVE GORE-TEX JACKET
One of the most popular items in the CONCURVE lineup is the GORE-TEX or GTX jacket. It is a waterproof and windproof jacket that uses GOREWEAR’s next generation GORE-TEX material that’s more sustainable and breathable. Unlike waterproof jackets that feel like plastic, this feels soft and has a body mapping design that looks and feels more like a wind breaker. GOREWEAR offers the jacket in nine different colors from bright green and red to more muted blue and green options. For this review, we have the Tech Beige color which is a off-white that has a solid beige color scheme with black accents along the cuffs. There is a color matched zipper running down the center with dual zipper pulls that lets you adjust ventilation from either side along with zipper garages.
GOREWEAR has also added a number of reflective details with reflective stripes that ensure you are visible in low light conditions regardless of the jacket color. On the front of the jacket you have a full length front zipper and two zippered pockets. The pockets are well placed and provide convenient storage for smaller item. As with other Concurve items, the jacket is designed specifically with running in mind which means the jacket moves with you as you run instead of inhibiting your motion. On of the coolest features of the jacket is the magnetic hoodie, which uses a small magnet on the top of the hoodie and at the rear of the jacket to keep it in place. It’s a clever detail that ensures the hoodie stays in place when not being used without the need for buttons or additional bulk.
RUNNING IMPRESSIONS
Having recently reviewed the GOREWEAR Concurve Windbreaker, we were curious how Concurve Gore-Tex jacket would compare. We went with the same size medium as the windbreaker for both the shorts and the jacket for our 6’1″ 165lb runner which both fit well. As you would expect, the jacket has a slightly looser fit to allow for layering while the shorts were a great fit. The 5″ length is comfortable without being too short with the built-in brief offering plenty of support to avoid any chafing. While the Gore-Tex jacket isn’t quite as light and thin as the windbreaker, it’s still feels soft and supple which makes you forget that it is waterproof. The dual zipper design lets you adjust venting which helps release some heat as you warm up and the magnetic clasp on the hoodie does a great job holding it in place. Aside from how wrinkly the jacket looks, it’s a great combination for short or long distance training as everything feels like a second-skin with no pressure points or discomfort.
THE VERDICT
Overall, we found the GOREWEAR Concurve 5″ brief shorts and the Gore-Tex jacket to be a great combination for running in any weather condition. The new Concurve brief shorts have a lightweight construction and minimal seam design which ensures you quickly forget you are wearing them. We appreciated the details like the hidden pockets that provide convenient storage for smaller items. The Concurve Gore-Tex jacket is an all-weather jacket that is wind and waterproof without feeling like rubber or plastic. GOREWEAR has incorporated their latest technology and premium features in the jacket to optimize the fit and feel. The main negative with the combo is the high price of the Gore-Tex jacket and the fact that it looks wrinkled after the first wash. That said, the GOREWEAR Concurve 5″ brief shorts and Gore-Tex jacket are a great combination for runners looking for comfort and weather protection.
