FIT & FINISH
KOM cycling is best known for their bike light mounts and accessories which offer quality construction and thoughtful design details. This mount is no exception as it solves the compatibility issues many saddle rail mounts can have by improving the contact points and adding an extension arm. The mount is constructed from a lightweight polycarbonate material and consists of three main pieces: the rail mount, GoPro adapter and the actual radar mount. At the rail point, KOM cycling has utilized a two bolt design with padded wide sections that compress against saddle rails. As you tighten the screws the two sides of the mount compress in and ensure the mount is stable and secure.
Built into the bottom piece of the mount is a GoPro mount with a bolt-on design. This is a standard three-prong design that allows the 25mm pivoting arm to be attached to the mount and allows for angle adjustments. Aside from the small red KOM Cycling logo on top and the yellow colored Wahoo adapter, the mount has an all black finish. KOM Cycling includes both a black Garmin adapter as well as a blue Wahoo adapter to make the mount compatible with different radars on the market. The adapters are standard plastic with a two bolt design to attach them to the mount.

Thanks to the 25mm extension and the pivoting GoPro attachment, you can easily adjust the angle of the radar to ensure it is parallel with the ground. Depending on your saddle bag setup and saddle rail design, it might also be possible to combine the saddle rail mount with a saddle bag. Most radars on the market use Garmin style mounts so you can attach iGPSPORT, Magene or other brands of radars beyond the Garmin Varia or Wahoo Trackr. We also suspect KOM Cycling’s Bryton disc would also be easy to swap onto the mount to make it compatible with the Bryton Gardia radar but we don’t have confirmation if it is interchangeable.
RIDING IMPRESSIONS
Installing the mount is straightforward as you simply have to lineup the rubber pads with your saddle rail. The mount is designed with extra side-to-side space to accommodate different saddle rail shapes. Unlike the Magicshine Netfy tracker mount, there are no security bolts used so standard bits work and let you quickly tighten everything down. Thanks to the pivot arm, there are multiple pivoting points to help perfectly position radars. We adjusted ours until the radar was just behind the saddle for a clean and flush appearance. Once everything is tightened down, the mount is secure and stable with no creaks or play. With our Specialized Tarmac’s Tailfin rack setup normal seat posts mounts would be partially obscured, so we found the saddle rail mount a great solution that improved the visibility and performance of the radar by placing it higher up on our bike.

THE VERDICT
Overall, we found the KOM Cycling Saddle Rail Radar Mount to be a well designed and versatile mount. KOM Cycling has used high quality materials and tight tolerances to create a simple and easy to adjust saddle rail mount for bike radars or taillights. The incorporation of a pivoting arm creates two pivot points and provides a wide range of adjustability for the mount placement. We were happy to see KOM Cycling include both Garmin and Wahoo adapters as well as a four screw setup that lets you clock either mount by 90 degrees to accommodate other brand’s mounts. The only negative with the mount is the premium price compared to generic saddle rail mounts on the market. That said, the KOM Cycling Saddle Rail Radar Mount offer an easy and secure way to mount radars to bike saddle rails.
